Have Your Say on the Future of East Herts

East Herts Council has launched the first stage of its new Local Plan Scoping Consultation, and residents of Walkern are encouraged to take part. This early consultation will help shape how the district grows, how infrastructure is planned, and how our natural environment is protected in the years ahead.

The consultation is now live and runs from 9:00am on 11 June 2026 to 11:59pm on 10 July 2026.

What the Consultation Covers

You are invited to comment on:

  • the issues and priorities the new Local Plan should address
  • what the Local Plan should contain
  • the draft Vision and key themes
  • how the Council should engage with communities
  • the Sustainability Appraisal / Strategic Environmental Assessment (SA/SEA) Scoping document

This stage does not include detailed policies or site proposals — those will follow later.
