Walkern Parish Council is dedicated to enriching the lives of all inhabitants in the Parish of Walkern. It does this by working closely with Hertfordshire County Council and East Herts District Council.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Village Litter Picker to ensure that the village maintains its visual appeal and high standard of living enjoyed by all its residents.
The successful candidate will be reliable, organised and take pride in their work. They will walk to various sites across the village and ensure they are kept clean, safe and free of litter. The role will involve emptying bins, picking litter and collection of dumped waste material. It may from time to time involve some weekend and bank holiday working. The post holder will ensure effective records are kept and relevant health and safety arrangements are complied with, in order that the Parish Council’s statutory obligations are met.
To be shortlisted to interview for this position, your application will clearly evidence:
- Good understanding of the importance of the work
- Ability to visit all village locations, sometimes at short notice
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather and sometimes in difficult terrain
The hourly rate is £8.72 per hour for approximately 8 to 12 hours per week, plus 20 days paid annual leave. Full training and equipment will be provided.
