East Hertfordshire Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP)

Hertfordshire County Council and East Herts Council have published their draft Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan and are seeking responses from the users of that infrastructure by 5th November.  The draft LCWIP can be found here.

Of particular interest to the residents of Walkern is the map of proposed infrastructure improvements in Walkern which can be found here.

Your parish council has considered the proposals and responded here.  The draft report contains little detail of the exact nature of the proposed improvements so our response is primarily seeking further clarification as to what form they may take.

Letter from Chris Hinchliff MP regarding the Planning & Infrastructure Bill

Chris Hinchliff, our local MP for North East Hertfordshire, has written to all his parish councils looking for the support of residents with regard to a number of amendments he is proposing to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill which is currently before Parliament.  His letter is attached below.

In summary the proposals are:

  • to better define and deliver truly affordable homes
  • strengthen environmental and sustainability aspects of the planning system
  • put communities at the heart of planning
  • put people and nature before profit

Your parish council strongly encourages your support which you can show by signing Chris’ petition which can be found here.

There is also an interesting article in The Guardian on this topic which can be found here.
